The cordless phones have like the mobile phones, become a part and parcel of our lives. Technology is seeing to it that the cordless phones are coming with and newer features ever now and then. So much so, it is now common place to find trendy state-of-the-art cordless devices that allow for even some bit of international roaming.

Today, you have some really big names not only producing all kinds and types of this interesting bit of telecommunications devices. These include Siemens, Panasonic, BT, Philips, John Lewis, Gigaset, etc and quite a few others. It is a highly competitive field where the various players fight it out for every inch of space and share in the market place.

Cordless phone devices enable y ou to make calls through them wirelessly. This is possible with them because of the fact that they are attached to a base station through radio signals. They are in this way distinct from the corded phones in that they are not directly wired to the nearest network carrier service. Unlike the mobile phones, the cordless phones date back even further and date back to the 1960's.

Most cordless phones made these days can handle calls even if you take the phone device around within a three to five km range from the connection point of the service. Though with technology progressing at lightning speed even this distance is going to either increase greatly or altogether become irrelevant.

You can have up to three to five cordless devices attached to a single connection too. Here it may be mentioned that you need to charge the cordless phone devices by keeping the device on its cradle and then plugging in to a power source.

Further, currently on the two cordless telephone standards – PHS and DECT --- have erased the gap existing between cordless telephones and the mobile phones more. And at the speed at which the growth is happening, pretty soon cordless phones will cease to have a distinct presence anywhere and everything will be only mobile.

What is more. The prices are abysmally low too. You have all the latest and fancy models of cordless phone devices selling from as low as £ 35 to £ 200 and in some cases, they are more as well.

For instance, the BT Verve 500 Twin is selling currently at £ 99.99. While the BT Synergy 450 quad is available for a slightly less price tag of only £ 99.98. At the lower end, you have the BT Synergy 400 for only £ 39.98. The other players like Panasonic, Philips, etc also have various models on offer selling at, by and large similar prices in the electronics market place.
